Geração elétrica – Fundo Verde

As of 2014, Fundo Verde has invested approximately R$ 8 million in the installation of six photovoltaic systems in the Cidade Universitária campus, for a total power of 810 KWp in photovoltaic energy generation.

Photovoltaic energy generation was chosen by Fundo Verde and UFRJ because such type of local energy generation requires low maintenance and few human resources in its operation. Each installed system supplies its corresponding Center and, when its generation exceeds local consumption, such generated surplus will be deducted from another bill in the university.

**Power:** 150 kWp
**Estimated energy generation:** 210 MWh/year

Fundo Verde’s actions in the photovoltaic energy sector contribute to the “Essa conta é de todos”, (This bill belongs to everyone) campaign, created by the Rector’s Office and UFRJ’s Administrative Office to reduce electricity costs at the university.
