The projects in the energy sector financed by Fundo Verde fall into two categories: electric generation initiatives.<\/a> and energy efficiency<\/a>In the first five years, from 2014 to 2018,\nthe main investments were allocated to photovoltaic energy generation projects. In turn,\nfrom 2019 to 2022, that is, in the last four years, Fundo Verde\u2019s operations were\nfocused on the energy efficiency sector. Each of the areas has particular advantages and\nchallenges for its implementation at the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pros:<\/strong> continuous reduction of installation prices; low maintenance required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cons:<\/strong> increase in project costs due to the need for public works and works in electricity\nat the installation sites; long payback time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actions for energy efficiency<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Pros:<\/strong> despite requiring maintenance, the frequency of maintenance is lowered after the\nprojects, thus enabling indirect savings to the university; some of the actions in question\nare simpler to perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cons:<\/strong> actions that cause a higher impact will require large investments; projects require\nsome level of periodic maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fundo Verde\u2019s actions in the energy sector contribute to the “Essa conta \u00e9 de todos”<\/a>, (This bill belongs to everyone) campaign, created by the Rector\u2019s Office and UFRJ\u2019s\nAdministrative Office to reduce electricity costs at the university.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
